Gabriele Poso was born on the 22nd of October 1978 in Sardinia, in the heart of the Mediterranean, but grew up in Lecce, the capital of Salento.

Early in his childhood, he established a deep connection with music, and felt that he was truly born when he discovered his family's vinyl collection of the best jazz, soul and Afro-Latin music.

With the passage of time, Poso dedicated himself to the study of various instruments, paying particular attention to the guitar, an instrument he uses to give life to his best compositions. His later musical explorations led him into the fascinating world of percussion, which would become for him a true calling.

In 1998, he began studying Afro-Cuban percussion at “Timba” School Of Music in Rome under the guidance of Roberto “Mamey” Evangelista. In 2001, he moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico to deepen his musical knowledge at the Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico and attended masterclasses at Escuela Nacional de Arte in Havana, Cuba.

In 2008, Poso released his first solo album, From The Genuine World, on Yoruba Records, marking the beginning of an international journey. In 2012, he became musical director of The Yoruba Soul Orchestra led by Grammy Award-winning DJ/producer Osunlade and released Roots Of Soul on INFRACom!, featuring artists such as Osunlade and Nailah Porter, earning critical acclaim and the award for Best Jazz Independent Production 2012.

His third album, Invocation (Agogo Records, 2014), entirely written, produced and performed by Poso, gained international support from Gilles Peterson and other influential broadcasters. He made his BBE Music debut with the compilation The Languages Of Tambores (2015), followed by the acclaimed LP Awakening (2018), described as the work of an artist in full creative bloom.

In 2019, he released Batik on Soundway Records, further expanding his global sonic identity, followed by Tamburo Infinito (Wonderwheel Recordings, 2020), a record that strengthened his presence in the international groove and global beats scene. In 2025, he curated Ritmo Italiano – Unspoken Sounds of Italian Tamburo for Mr Bongo, celebrating Italian percussive culture.

His forthcoming album Maraviglia (AG Records, 2026) represents a new artistic chapter: recorded live with a full band, it captures the raw energy, joy and collective spirit that define his performances.

Over the years, Gabriele Poso has performed on major international stages including Jova Beach Party by Jovanotti (Italy, 2022), Wonderfruit Festival (Thailand, 2024), Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club (London, 2025), Vivid Sydney (Australia, 2025) and ESNS – Eurosonic Noorderslag (Netherlands, 2026), alongside numerous tours across Europe, Asia and Australia.

Today, Gabriele Poso stands as one of the most distinctive Mediterranean voices in contemporary global music. With a proven track record across major international festivals and respected labels, he brings a powerful, fully developed live show designed for large stages and culturally diverse audiences. Blending Afro-Latin roots, Mediterranean warmth and modern groove culture, his project offers promoters a high-energy, rhythm-driven performance that connects both seated listening audiences and dance-oriented festival crowds. With his new album Maraviglia, Gabriele Poso is entering a new phase of international expansion, ready for strategic partnerships, global touring and major showcase platforms.
