Since the age of 13, Sergio has dedicated his life to music. At 16, he create Os Mutantes. This is still, to this day, considered to be one of the most important and popular rock bands in Brazil.

The band was extremely influential in dictating significant changes of musical styles and direction. These subsequently impacted on the political and behavioral attitudes of Brazilian culture during it's sensitive & tropicalismo" period.

Sergio Dias, as a touring and recording artist, has appeared with most of the current wave of Brazilian musicians too numerous to mention. In the USA, Sergio has written, co-produced and performed with Eumir Deodato. He spent four years touring North America with Airto Moreira and Flora Purin. After that he toured the USA with legendary Indian violinis L.Shankar and subsequently with flautist Jeremy Steig.

Sergio Dias is considered, according to the Brazilian music magazines, to be the most popular and influential guitarist from the '60s through to now. He is a household name in Brazil and in October 1993 received the O Globo Music Award. This is awarded to the best Brazilian musician in the Guitar Hero category.

Sergio's music spectrum encompasses such diverse styles as bebop, avant garde, Eastern and a wide variety of world and new age music. He is a dedicated musician whose life revolves around his quest to incorporate versatility and technical expertise to the raw emotion of his Brazilian soul.

Twice Latin Grammy Nominee (born December 1, 1950 in São Paulo), is a Brazilian rock musician, composer and guitar player. He is best known for his work with the band Os Mutantes and has been the only consistent member of the band, appearing on every album since its formation.

In 2010 Sergio Dias collaborated in France Paris with the band Tahiti Boy and the Palmtree Family in a project called "We are the Lilies",[1] which also featured contributions from Iggy Pop and Jane Birkin. With whom he Co wrrote a song “Marie” about Marie Antoinette.
